Student Improvement

Enrichment Camp participants will have access to out-of-school programs, which reinforce school curricular, in addition to participating in activities that emphasize physical development and overall health and wellness outcomes.  Camps consist of six core components, which include literacy, physical activity and fitness, life skills, homework assistance, family engagement, nutritious food and beverage education.  The objective of camp activities is to promote cooperation, responsibility, and a sense of self-worth by accomplishing personal and camp objectives.  Participants will learn to establish goals that include improvement of student learning and achievement in reading, science, technology, and mathematics. Expected outcomes centers on increased student attendance in school; improved student discipline and behavior; and the promotion of habits that enhance healthy living and wellness. Students will be expected to acquire new skills and knowledge, as well as develop new interests through their involvement with TUB’s after school and summer camp programs.

Teen Up-Ward Bound recognizes that the provision of after school programs is a key ingredient to strategy for improvement of social and economic outcomes for youth, particularly those that are disadvantaged; attend underperforming schools; in foster care; juvenile justice system entry; health conditions or impairments; and youth who reside in underserved communities such as Opa-locka and Miami Gardens. We believe the collective programs will add productive time to children and assist with development of a myriad of important skills to supplement academic learning, connect with caring adults and support healthy development. At end, Teen Up-Ward Bound takes into account different working hours, thus the program hours of operation is structured to accommodate parents and caregivers with an afterschool schedule that consists of Monday through Friday, 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm; and summer hours of operations will be Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 6:00 pm.
